Leakage testing

Article 4 of the F-gas regulation (EU) 517/2014

Electrical switchgear are excluded from testing if they

  • present a tested leak rate of < 0.1 % (per year) or
  • contain less than 6 kg of SF6 (to be considered in relation to the gas compartment) or
  • are equipped with a sensor for monitoring pressure or density.

In case testing for leakage is required and/or a leak is determined, the SF6 LeakSpy is the tool of choice for performing this task easily and reliably. The device is capable of detecting and quantifying the smallest concentrations of SF6 (resolution: 1 ppmv), and does not have any cross-sensitivities towards humidity and the most common volatile organic compounds (VOC).
